Julian Beever

August 31st, 2005 — 8:35am

On the news last night there was a brief item about a new work created by Julian Beever. Julian creates amazing pieces of art using chalk and I know him best for his pavement drawings. Anyway, the latest work was created in front of the old Bank of England so I figured I could get up a bit earlier than usual and divert over to have a look. Click on the below photo for a larger look.

Chinese and Texan

August 30th, 2005 — 1:49pm

We met up with Patricia, Sam and Kathryn on Sunday evening to go out for dinner. We found them on the edge of China Town and wandered down the streets looking for a likely place to eat. Eventually we found a place that seemed OK and we sat down for a Chinese/Thai/Cantonese meal.

And it was very good, especially given the price which for the center of London was dirt cheap. After dinner we went for a walk. We showed Sam where the Covent Garden Snow+Rock store is and then wandered through Covent Garden down past St Martin-in-the-Fields and ended up in Trafalgar Square. We had a look around and I took some photos, I particularly like this one

People were a bit peckish still so we headed down to the Texas embassy for dessert. A few helpings of Key Lime Pie, Pecan pie and Cheesecake and we were all replete. It was then back to Charing Cross tube where we went our separate ways.
