Finns and friend

March 30th, 2005 — 8:38am

We saw the Finn Brothers in concert last night. It was a concert tinged with sadness due to the death of their fellow bandmate from the Crowded House days, Paul Hester. The fourth Crowded House member, Nick Seymour, made an appearance last night having flown in from Ireland for Monday nights concert. He stayed for last night’s gig and joined the Finn’s for a few songs and to help them all remember Paul from a better time in the past.

Sunrise from Mt Sinai

March 22nd, 2005 — 10:18pm

No, we didn’t just go back to Egypt for a day, this is a photo you may have seen before from our travels last September. On top of Mt Sinai we watched the sun rise and it was a peaceful, beautiful experience. Or at least it should have been. Fighting your way through crowds of tourists who had tramped up the mountain in the early morning and then had walked all over you so they could get the best view is not something you want to do after having spent a cold night sleeping on a rocky outcrop. The experience was memorable at least. In fact the initial travel up the mountain the previous night astride camels and leaving nothing to do but stare at more stars than I thought it possible to see was something special.
