Things have been quite quiet for the last week or so, we haven’t really done that much. Pauline came around on the weekend and we all went and saw the movie “The Scorpion King”, entertaining in a no-brainer kind of way. That noodle bar we went to the other day is called Wagamama, they have stores in a number of different places and I certaintly recommend them, you can find out more here.
We’re off to Cornwall and Devon in mid may, a week in a self catering cottage in each area. Keryn’s already got our map peppered with little yellow stickys for places of interest (an idea we’re stolen from Karyn and Brian). Should be a good couple of weeks as long as the weather holds, at the moment we’re going through a hot period, it was 25 degrees yesterday and looks like it’ll be the same today. Not much else coming up, we’ll probably be going to a NZ food and wine festival at the end of June, It’ll be nice to have some good kiwi tucker ;-)
So, be well, I’ll see if I can come up with interesting events next time, promise…

It’s kiwi night tomorrow night at LSTrillium. Basically all the kiwi’s in the company (who are based at 140 London Wall) go out together to a pub somewhere. This time we’re going to the Old Bell, more info can be found here. Last friday we went out for dinner with Jim and Gee to a Japanese noodle bar near Tottenham Court Road. It was a nice place (turns out they’re a chain) and it makes a difference to the usual bars and restaurants – I’ll post their website when I remember what the place is called. Didn’t do a lot on the weekend – Keryn went shopping (for the second weekend running) at the Lakeside shopping mall with Karyn. This week she tryed on a number of wedding dresses and is getting closer to deciding on a style now. Other than that things are pretty quiet here, its just working and relaxing at home.

Coming home today on the tube I saw the cutest thing. Sitting opposite me was a man with his two young daughters. The younger of the two, maybe three or four years old, was asleep in his lap. The older, maybe seven or eight, was asleep in the next seat to his left, lying against her father and his jacket. The older daughter has sleeping mostly upright, her head leaning towards her dad at an almost 90 degree angle to her body. Both daughters were in very deep sleep, nothing was going to wake these two up.
The father started trying to wake the older daughter up at the Tufnell Park station, which was three stops before they were due to get off the train. He had no luck for the whole time travelling to the next stop, Archway, where he finally got her to react to his gentle prodding and soft words. As he was trying to wake her he kept looking up at the amused passengers watching on and he mentioned that the deep sleep was due to jet lag. After she stretched and moved around a bit she woke up enough to look at her father, mumble a few words and then fall straight back to sleep as she turned around to get comfortable. The next few minutes were taken up with dad trying to keep the daughter awake, generally involving he getting her to move, open her eyes and ask for her to try and stay awake. She would wave him off, say she wasn’t going to fall asleep and promptly then curl up and be asleep again.
I’m fairly sure she didn’t have any idea what was going on, if she had she would have been getting annoyed. Instead, it was like a goldfish going around and around, not remembering anything past a few seconds. All very funny.
